10 Km Whitewater Rafting on the Mae Taeng River

Writer: Rene GriffithRene Griffith

On our way back to Chiang Mai we stopped off for a river rafting adventure. We booked through a French owned company called Thai Adventure Rafting, the first rafting company opened on the Mae Taeng river. A young Parisian couple joined us for the fun.

Wild rides down the rapids, Good thing we wore helmets because our guide hit us twice accidentally in the really difficult rapids.

The scenery was beautiful and we saw elephants walking alongside the river.

We loved the thrill of rafting on this river which was rated a 3.5+ rapids. No one was tossed from the raft but there were times we got drenched and times we were stuck atop boulders and the five of us had to work to free our raft. The person screaming the loudest was the young Frenchman!
