CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT AND MIXED MEDIA ARTWORK
WHEN ARE YOU TOO OLD: FINDING MY TRUE NORTH
Recently I developed a wonderful connection with a young videographer. As we talked about our crafts, he told me he was inspired to make a video of me and my art. After agreeing with his suggestions, he brought his camera to my studio for an afternoon. Two weeks later, he absolutely wowed me with this powerful 4-minute video that I am excited to share with you. I believe it will resonate deeply with people of all ages––those who make art, those who love art, and those who are still searching.
My video, Finding My True North, tells the story many in our art community need to hear—that artistic passion knows no timeline and it's never too late to pursue authentic creative expression.
THE LAST PICTURE SHOW–FINAL EXHIBITION AT THE FOOSANER ART MUSEUM
Join local Indialantic, Florida artist Rene Griffith on an intimate journey through memory, art, and community in this heartfelt documentary about a landmark exhibition at the historic Foosaner Art Museum. After 43 years as a cultural cornerstone of Melbourne, Florida, the museum prepared to close its doors—but not before hosting one final, unforgettable two-person show: Abstraction: Retrospective Memories.
This video weaves together past and present, opening with nostalgic Griffith family photographs from the 1950s that capture life in Melbourne during the early days of the space program. Through these images, discover the roots of an artistic dream that began in childhood and blossomed into a lifetime of creative expression.
As one of the featured artists, Griffith shared 52 pieces of abstract and mixed media work, including the premiere of Inner Landscapes—a deeply personal series of eight paintings created specifically for this exhibition.
The video takes you behind the scenes into her art studio, where she opens up about her creative process and the techniques that bring abstract memories to life through layers of paint, texture, and collage. But this isn't just her story—hear from an accomplished artist, an art educator, a gallery owner, and the museum director as they each share their favorite piece from the exhibition and explain what makes these abstractions resonate so powerfully.
This is more than an exhibition video—it's a love letter to Melbourne, a tribute to the Foosaner Art Museum's legacy, and a celebration of how art preserves the landscapes we carry within us.
