REFLECTING ON OLD FLORIDA

Now that we are in the fall season, and even though we have no real fall weather in our area of Florida, I have curated 3 mixed media paintings I call Reflecting on Old Florida. I grew up in coastal central Florida in the 1950s just as the space program was being launched. These artworks were created in my attempt to preserve what it felt like to live in a place where childhood summers unfolded in the shadow of history being made. These aren't just scenes from the past—they're snapshots of a Florida that shaped who we became, a time when the future felt as close as the ocean breeze.

For a limited time, I am offering these three original paintings at 25% off the retail price.

Living the Dream

I’m excited to share "Living the Dream" a colorful beach scene that captures the spirit of memories visiting South Florida as a child. The playful “beach” created using painted papers and vintage book pages ties it all together, blending memory and imagination into a sunny escape that feels like the perfect day by the water. This one’s all about vibrant energy, warm breezes, and the simple joy of soaking it all in.

Florida Outdoors

"Florida Outdoors" captures the essence of adventure and nostalgia with vintage campers nestled against the backdrop of swaying palm trees. Mixed-media techniques blend vintage collage materials, photos, and acrylic paint to evoke a sense of timeless charm. A vintage Florida postcard unites the scene, while a foreground sign serves as a subtle reminder of the untamed wilderness, warning of nearby alligators. This evocative artwork transports viewers to a campground, where memories are made beneath the Florida sun, amidst the tranquility and allure of bygone days.

Flamingo Island

"Flamingo Island," a mixed media painting that’s all about those laid-back beach vibes and sunset colors that never get old. I used my own photos, vintage postcards, old magazine ads, handwritten letters, and paint to bring to life the sun-drenched sand, with an island of pink flamingos adding a bit of charm. It’s a little nostalgic, a little whimsical, and a sunny reminder of childhood memories.
