English Gardens and the Flowers in the Cotswolds

Stopping to smell and photograph the flowers on our hikes through the small villages of the Cotswolds increased our hiking time significantly, but what a pleasure to experience such loveliness. Hope you enjoy our little journey here.
Woodsorel, Primrose, and Poppies shown above. We encountered numerous species of flowers along our hikes as mid May things were very much in bloom in England.

As an artist, photographer, and painter, I am acutely aware of nuances of color and shapes. I’m always intrigued by finding both of these qualities in nature and especially in flowers.

I certainly was not disappointed in the Cotswolds affording me the opportunity of finding exciting new colors and shapes to inspire my next paintings.

We happened to meet the gardener for this house who planted and maintained the gardens. He was happy to watch our excitement and enthusiasm for his work. We offered our praise and acknowledgment for his gardening skills.

The vibrant colors, the many varieties, the stopping to smell the roses were a fun part of our hikes. In two days we hiked over 12 miles of meadows, woodlands, and rolling hills.
