Collage has been described as painting with paper. I love the way materials such as old letters, hand-painted papers, stamps, maps, photos, vintage book and magazine pages, fabrics, and ephemera are used to create one-of-a-kind artworks .
TORN AND CUT PAPER COLLAGES
Using Paper Instead of Paint to Create a Painting
The collages shown above were created using bits of cut and torn paper. The papers come from new and vintage magazines, old dress patterns, stationery, maps, paperback books, postcards, and old personal photos and handwritten letters. The original artwork is created on either gallery wrapped canvas, or cradled wood panels and finished with three coats of UV acrylic sealer/varnish. These works are all one-of-a-kind artworks but are also available as prints and can be sized to your needs on paper, canvas, wood, aluminum, or acrylic..
